Exiled to Lunar Lakes - Chapter 7, Part 2 - The Lie and the Liar

Hi guys! I know it's been a while since the last chapter and so I created this post to basically just catch everyone up quickly on what happened in previous chapters.
I need to address a few things before we get into this chapter. I will no longer be updating this story on Boolprop. A few weeks ago, I was going to scrap this story completely but some friends of mine helped convince me not to do so. For that, I am forever thankful. You might notice that commenting is now turned off. That's due to safety reasons and while as of right now I do think they will come back on in the future, they will be under moderation.
If you would like updates for when these chapters are coming out, contact me on Carls!
I ask that you please do not contact me regarding why these changes have taken place.
Thanks!

“The man, patient 0298, what crime did he commit?” The woman had walked into a room similar to the other, nearly identical though it smelled faintly of bleach where the other didn’t. The man’s hands were clenched into fists whereas the woman, patient 0587, had been deathly still next to her.

She wondered how real the simulation was to him.

“He was a mercenary hired to kill a noble according to our sources.” The confidence in the man’s voice continued to grow the longer she was there. He thought she wouldn’t kill him. Maybe she wouldn’t, but he would have to be disposed of. Quickly.

“The king would never allow a mercenary who threatened his court to survive.” She said with the arrogance that the king’s ambassadors often took on. While she knew the king would do whatever he wanted as long as it benefited him, it was the type of foolish statement that made her look weak enough for this man to get more comfortable and tell her more.

“Perhaps he wouldn’t in usual cases, but he did here.” The man replied haughtily. He had come a far way during their conversation from the man who looked ready to wet himself. She was feeling less sorry that he was going to die.

“Tell me, why did you show me patient 0298?” Her voice droned on, her foot rasping against the tile floors as she deliberately tried to look impatient and bored.

Humans were fidgety and didn’t like waiting for a long time. The more human she appeared, the better.

“Patient 0298 is now connected to patient 0587 after finding her at a bar. We expected him to react negatively to her due to his past, but instead he reacted...positively. Very positively.” The man shifted awkwardly as he stared at the direction of the patient, his own impatience starting to make an appearance as he tapped against the clipboard that had been handed to him after exiting patient 0587’s room.

“Positively in what way?”
The man gave her a look as if willing her to figure it out without explaining before he realized she wanted a direct answer.

“He offered her a place to stay after she had been categorized as homeless due to the cautions needed to be taken based off of her earlier actions. Patient 0298 broke the carefully in place system by offering her a place to live and protecting her.”

The woman gave him a look of disappointment. That was it? That was his grand evidence? The man paused for a moment as his fingers started trembling again, “Patients usually don’t ban together as the system keeps them mostly isolated except in rare social circumstances. You see, we try our very, very best to make sure the simulation is as realistic as possible so the patients never see through it. It would be dangerous.”

If the man was foolish enough to think that humans being by choice isolated added realism to the simulator, then it was a surprise this hadn’t fallen apart already. Saying that isolating human beings gives power to the experiment in the long run is another thing, saying it adds realism to the experiment is another. “What is your course of action regarding these to patients?”

The man looked at the contents of his clipboard before replying. His eyes widened as his whole body shook. “We have already put into plan their deaths in the simulation after observing how patient 0587 didn’t fit. We hope to come up with a solution after their immediate executions outside the-”

“-find the solution and then kill them. The king will be interested in this development. If you kill them before you find the solution, you and your living relatives will meet...interesting circumstances themselves.” The woman finished icily as the man messed with his glasses. Time. She needed to give these patients time.

“Ambassador, please. This wasn’t my choice. I’m simply a-”
“-I simply don’t care. You wouldn’t want to disappoint his majesty now, would you? Stop shaking like a small child. I’ll be expecting a report for his majesty the next time I visit.” The woman leaned forward and fixed his now crooked glasses with a cold smile.
Whatever humanity she may have within her would not be extended to this man. No, she would make everyone who had stepped foot into this building to destroy these patients’s lives pay.

She was no human being with their shaky morals. She was a monster wearing a human’s skin who had been forced to bow a long time ago. Now these humans would bow to her as she accomplished what she had been set out to do.
